• About
This session is part of CONNECT Conversation's monthly Variety Focus Series. On the first Tuesday of every month, we will uncover the uniqueness of Australia’s climate, landscape and regional wines through the lens of a specific variety or style.

In October, we are focusing on Shiraz, with Part 1 on History, Heritage and Old Vines, and Part 2 on Cooler Climates, Changing Styles.

Part 1: History, Heritage and Old Vines

Mark Davidson, Wine Australia’s Head of Education Development, looks at the history of Shiraz in Australia and some of the classic regions known for Shiraz. He talks to Ben Glaetzer, Winemaker at Glaetzer Wines, about what makes the Barossa such a special region for Shiraz, the importance of old vines and the shift in style to a greater focus on freshness and purity of expression.
